How CameraAnswer handles your data
CameraAnswer is a free camera interface for AI analysis. You provide your own OpenRouter API key and choose the AI model. The app has no CameraAnswer account, ads, or analytics.
What the app handles
When you capture a photo to analyze, it may include personal or sensitive information that is visible in the camera frame. The app prepares a JPEG image for the AI request. Your OpenRouter API key is stored in the iOS Keychain. The selected model, recent model history, and your AI-processing consent setting are stored in app-only settings on your device.
When photos leave your device
Only after you choose to analyze a photo and allow AI photo processing, CameraAnswer sends the prepared image and a text instruction to OpenRouter over HTTPS. OpenRouter routes the request to the selected third-party AI model provider to generate an answer. Your API key authenticates the request with OpenRouter. The answer is shown in the app.
OpenRouter and model providers can have different logging, retention, processing-location, and training practices. Review the OpenRouter Privacy Policy and provider data policies; check the privacy controls in your OpenRouter account before sending sensitive material.
Storage and retention
CameraAnswer does not save captured photos to your photo library or its own persistent app storage. The developer does not operate a server that stores your photos or answers. Third-party retention is governed by OpenRouter and the selected provider; requests about data they hold should be directed to those services.
Advertising and tracking
The app includes no advertising, third-party analytics, or cross-app tracking SDKs. The developer does not use captured photos for advertising or tracking.
Your choices
Turn off Allow photo processing in CameraAnswer Settings to stop future photo transmission. Select Delete Key to remove the saved OpenRouter key from the device. You can manage OpenRouter logging and provider preferences in your OpenRouter account.
Security
CameraAnswer uses HTTPS for API requests and the iOS Keychain for your API key. No electronic transmission or storage method is guaranteed to be completely secure.
Changes
This policy may change when app features, providers, or legal requirements change. An updated policy will show a new effective date on this page.
